What is propolis?

Propolis is a natural gelatinous substance made of resin and plant essences collected by bees from trees or flowers, mixed with beeswax and secretions upon returning to the nest, and used to prevent viruses and bacteria from invading the hive and larvae. It is considered the best defense substance in nature.

Propolis contains more than 300 beneficial substances such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and bioflavonoids, making it a widely used defense product for human health. It is a traditional and long-term nutritional supplement used to support body immunity.

There are five benefits of propolis to the human body:

  1. Supports immune regulation The flavonoids and caffeic acid compounds in propolis have been proven by scientific research to regulate immunity.

  2. Natural anti-inflammatory The benzoic acid, caffeic acid, and coumarin acid in propolis have antibacterial effects. Flavonoids can promote the production of collagen, which accelerates wound healing. Propolis also activates macrophages, which engulf bacteria that invade the body, and has the effect of killing viruses.

  3. Anti-aging beauty The flavonoids, monophenolic acid, bisphenolic acid, and vitamin C in propolis have anti-oxidation and free radical capturing abilities, which indirectly benefit anti-aging and anti-cancer efforts. Flavonoids also inhibit the activation of cancer cells.

  4. Helps improve tracheal discomfort and relieve stress The phytoncine in propolis is helpful for emotional relaxation and stress relief. Flavonoids relax the parasympathetic nerves of the nerve tissue and have a stress-relieving effect. Additionally, the vitamin B group and trace minerals contained in propolis can help relieve stress, promote metabolism, and eliminate fatigue. Some literature points out that flavonoids in propolis have anti-allergic and asthmatic effects.

  5. Regulates the glycemic index Studies have shown that taking propolis in animals can help regulate fasting blood glucose and suppress triglycerides. Although the research has not been tested on humans, propolis may help people with physical problems regulate blood sugar.
